At the northwest end of Rimrock Drive is a castle like
home. Its history is thus: B.M. Francis opened a real estate office in
Spokane in 1907, already having realestate interests in Butte and
Missoula, Montana. He platted subdivisions in all three cities. Although
he had acquired a fortune in other transactions, his plans for Castle Hill
on Rimrock Drive did not materialize. When he built his own home at the
far northwest end of Rimrock Drive, it was considered quite a showplace.
Eventually, it became too expensive to maintain, and he gave it up. For
twenty years it stood empty, then served briefly as a dinner and night
club. In recent years it is again a private home where Llamas are raised
in the environ of some peacocks also. A very nice place to drive by after
going the length of Pallisades Park.
