Found throughout Washington, the green darner dragonfly
has a bright green head and thorax and a 4- to 6-inch wingspan and can fly
25 to 35 miles per hour. A man named Drury first sighted and recorded the
green darner dragonfly in 1773. It is one of several darner dragonflies,
which in turn make up one of several families of dragonflies.
